The Oaken History Trail, available
from the History Society through the
Publications Page, contains 33 points of interest for walkers to look out for. This Online extract contains nine of these. It has been compiled by Jack E Whitaker and the illustrations are all by Society member David Whitehead.
The Hamlet of Oaken covers 1,290 acres and within its boundaries are many walks including the signposted public footpaths. This leaflet describes a walk from Codsall Railway Station, along Oaken Lanes, Stafford Lane, Willow Lane, around the centre of Oaken Village and back down Oaken Drive to Codsall Station.
The history notes provide a brief introduction to the area. Additional information, with photographs, is available in Codsall Library, reference a) Oaken houses and families; b) Victorian History of Staffordshire, Vol. 17.
